If you’re ambitious and you’d like to riff on all things healthcare shoot me a message: [email protected]*

💡 The core things I’m going after

In Sept 2023, I set out to fix the problems I had experienced firsthand in the healthcare system after suffering a heart attack from years of poor life hygiene. I planned to dedicate the next 10+ years of my life to solving these problems.

This resulted in several key things I desire when it comes to building that company:

 1. I want to build something I am genuinely proud of and want for myself and my family.
 2. I want to build something where compounding works for us rather than against us. I.e. Amazon has basically compounded at 30% per year for 30 years.
 3. I want to build a company that can provide me with financial and lifestyle freedom. A company that either has a logical path to $1B+, or a path to $1M+ in personal take home pay. Even if the odds of building a $1B+ company are low, valuation is a barometer for impact. I believe you should only raise venture dollars if you have a clear path to $100M+ in revenue at 50%+ margins. I’m also open to building a ‘lifestyle company’ like Basecamp & Outseta that build great products + give it’s stakeholders financial & lifestyle freedom.
 4. I want to create a culture that I crave for myself. I believe smaller teams are better and more productive. I love PGs How to do great work article where he says ‘if you’re an ambitious person you need to work, it’s almost like a medical condition’. I’m obsessed with work but want to have the ability to spend time with family, in nature, travel etc. I admire the modern day culture of AirBnb (product+marketing integration, close-knit IRL core team, remote or hybrid broader team), Coinbase, Basecamp, Outseta, and Traba. I’d like to build a strong core team in Toronto, California, or Florida but am open to other locations.

Understanding The Market

💡 I’ve made it my job to learn more about health tech than any other startup founder / industry insiders.

The outsider’s perspective is a blessing and a curse.

I haven’t internalized the dogma of the industry, which makes it easier to think from first principles; but at the same time, I have less intuition and general industry knowledge.

I’ve worked with leading healthcare brands and startups, looked into 100+ healthcare companies, and spoke to 10+ health tech operators. More to come.

Here’s part of my Notion.
